Merideth: If you want a premium and a sportier look to the back end of your 2014 through 2019 C7 Corvette, this GM Factory Package Rear Bumper Diffuser in Carbon Fiber is a mod that you'll want to check out. Now this diffuser makes for an immediate change in the vibe of your Corvette being a direct replacement for the factory one, just with a much more aggressive appearance without going overboard. Great for the C7 owner looking for a well-balanced diffuser. Now, also is a great choice if you're searching for carbon fiber mods for the rear end and want to match with other carbon accessories that are currently on your C7.Now, this diffuser feature is a sharp aesthetic compared to the factory one for a few different reasons. Now, the shape and overall design is pretty similar to the OE setup, which keeps it more toned down in comparison to some of these super aggressive choices. However, with this, it is a bit thicker on the lower edges and incorporates additional fins, which adds that sportier feel to the diffuser. Now, the carbon weave also has the benefits in the appearance adding a much more premium look to the back and with the look, it's also super lightweight and durable, which helps with the function of this diffuser. Now, the main purpose of this is to better the appearance of the C7, which is most likely why you are checking this mod out. But you do also get the small benefit of a little bit of better arrow with this kit in addition to the look. Now, this is made of a complete carbon fiber construction and with consisting of genuine carbon fiber, it brings a lot of benefits to the table that carbon has. Now, it's ultra lightweight and is very durable for the weight and what it is, so you can ensure that it's going to handle the use and abuse of your driving style over time. The weave is also covered in a glossy finish to make the appearance pop and, again, protect that carbon underneath from the elements. Now, this is also a direct bolt-in swap requiring no modifications or drilling in order to install this and reap the benefits from it. It does have all of the mounting points pre-drilled and pre-packed for you so you don't have to do any modification to the diffuser either in order to get this on your C7.This is about $1,400 and is at a more premium price point. And compared to others in the category, the price here is to be expected with a full carbon setup, considering the durability and the function of the carbon compared to other plastics typically used for this kind of mod. Now, as I mentioned, it's also right in the middle with the design not being overly aggressive with extra large fins, winglets, or other accessories in the build, while also adding in some aggression and being a complete bolt-in and direct swap option that doesn't require any drilling or modification, making it a great pick if those are some of the key features that you're looking for when you're searching for the right diffuser for your build.Install here is a lighter two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It's pretty straightforward, but it should take about two hours or so, give or take to get the job done. However, at this point, I'm going to hand it over to one of our installers here so they can show you a full-detailed breakdown on how you can get this installed on your C7. So that's going to wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into the install.Man: Tools required for this install include a ratchet, needle nose pliers, Phillips head screwdriver, small flathead screwdriver, an extension, and 7-millimeter and 10-millimeter socket. What's up, guys? Today we're installing a rear diffuser on our Corvette. So let's get started. So now we're going to start off by removing a bunch of these 7-millimeter screws on the bottom of our diffuser. We've got three at each corner, and then we've got two here, and that's going to be on each side. So grab your 7-millimeter socket and pull those out. Next we have a few 10-millimeter bolts we'll have to remove. We've got two up here back behind where the license plate sits and then right above the tips, we have two here as well. Just grab a 10-millimeter socket and get those out.And next we have two bolts behind this reflector, so we need to pop our reflector out to gain access to that. Now, we're going to have to pop out the corners of the diffuser here, and then we can pull back on it and that'll give us some more access to reach our hand behind there. It's going to have a clip here, here, and here. You just need to press in the tab on the clip to pop it out. So we'll start at the corner here. Just give it a light tug to pop those clips out. And then you can get up behind the reflector with your hand, pop out that clip, and just work your way across. It's going to be impossible to get a camera angle in here, so I'll show you what these clips look like when I get this out. So now with our reflector out, you can see we've got these three clips. You just need to push in on that tab there, there, and there to pop that out and that'll give us access to these two 10-millimeter bolts. And now grab your 10 millimeter socket for your two bolts, and then do the same thing on the other side. And now we just need to pop out our clip at the top. Just grab a hand on it, wiggle it back and forth, and then do the same thing on the other side to fully remove this. And then you can pull your diffuser out of the way. Now, last thing we need to do for the uninstall here is to remove our side vents. These are just held in by three clips here, so you can grab a small flathead screwdriver, you want to get in between here to pry back this little nub and then slide that out. Let's do that same thing for the other two. And then repeat that process on the other side. Now I've got my buddy to help me maneuver this into place. Now, we've got these two tabs here we're going to have to get in first and angle it underneath our camera. So now we can take our two bolts behind the reflector and thread those in and then take a 10-millimeter socket, tighten those down. And then you can grab your reflector. Now, these have an LH or an RH for left hand or right hand on them. So just match it up. And then just slide that in and press those clips into place. Next we can install those little side bends. Now, just like the reflectors, they have an LH sticker as well as stamped into the plastic here. So we're going to line up all these tabs. We've got holes in our diffuser as well as our bumper. So just line those up and press it in. And then do the same thing on the other side.Next we can reinstall the two bolts behind our license plate as well as the two bolts above our tips. So I've got a 10 millimeter socket with an extension since this is recessed to be able to get my thread started. And then I'll do that same thing on the bottom here. And throw your 10-millimeter socket on the other side and tighten all four down. So now we can go underneath and reinstall those five screws per side. So just grab the 7-millimeter socket to help you get them started. And then you can grab your ratchet and tighten them down. And then repeat that process on the other side. Now, the last thing we need to do is just pull these two clips out for our license plate screws. So I'm going to take a pair of needle nose pliers and just lightly pinch two edges together and then take a flathead screwdriver and push one more tab over. It's just a game of leverage for these. If you have a buddy that can hold the bumper steady for you, that would be great. And then you pop one out and do the same thing for the other one. And then we can pop these into our new diffuser and wrap up this install. And now we can pop in our clips and reinstall our license plate. Now, line this up first, figure out which holes to use if you've got the inside here. If you're overseas, probably use these outside holes for the longer registration plates. So just push those in. And then you can take the Phillips head screws with your license plate, thread those in.So that'll wrap up this review and install the GM Factory Package Rear Bumper Diffuser and Carbon Fiber for your 2014 to '19 Corvette C7. Thank you for watching, and for all things Corvette, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
